Care and cleaning

Early learning furniture gets cleaned often. These steps keep it looking good and protect your warranty.

Everyday cleaning, all furniture

• Wipe with a soft cloth dampened with warm water and a mild detergent, then dry with a clean cloth.
• For sanitising, use a diluted, non-abrasive surface sanitiser as directed by its manufacturer, and wipe dry afterwards.
• Don't use scourers, abrasive powders, bleach at full strength or solvents such as acetone. Don't soak furniture or hose it down.

Solid beech timber

• Wipe up spills straight away, especially paint, glue and water around legs and joints.
• Keep furniture out of long periods of direct sun and away from heaters, which can fade or dry the timber.
• Small variations in grain and colour between pieces are natural and will mellow over time.

Laminate and melamine tops

• Remove marker, crayon and paint with a damp cloth and mild detergent. For stubborn marks, use a non-abrasive cream cleaner on a soft cloth.
• Use a board or tray when working with hot items, glue guns or sharp tools.

Steel frames

• Wipe with a damp cloth and dry. Check and tighten fixings each term.

Upholstery and soft seating

• Spot clean vinyl and coated fabrics with warm water and mild detergent. Don't use solvent cleaners, which can crack the surface.

Wooden learning resources and toys

• Wipe with a barely damp cloth and let them air dry. Never soak or put wooden toys in a dishwasher.

Regular safety checks

Once a term, check that chairs and tables are stable, fixings are tight and there are no splinters or sharp edges. Stop using any item that's damaged and contact us.
